With the end of the year fast approaching how many of you have achieved/will achieve your goals and how many goals got forgotten/pushed aside?
This will be the year I lose weight, gain muscle, get leaner, eat better, move more, gym regularly….. we all start off the year motivated, positive and ready to achieve, but why do so many struggle to turn that goal into success?
Motivation VS Commitment
You may have heard the saying motivation is what gets you started, commitment is what keeps you going. If you commit to your goal you will do whatever it takes to succeed no matter how tough it gets.
So How Do We Build Commitment?
Below are the 3 simple ways that has brought me success with clients, myself and now you too. Implement these simple yet effective strategies and achieve what you want to achieve but remember nothing worth having comes easy…
1. Write it Down
‘Why is achieving this goal important to you and how will it make you feel to achieve?’ – writing down the answer to this question daily may seem pointless and wishey-washy nonsense but it is proven that starting the day in the right mindset and reminding yourself of what is important determines your success. It will help prevent excuses creeping in or losing sight of your goal and keep you focused to succeed.
2. Being One Step Ahead of your Excuses
– lack of time, its cold and rainy, overslept, kids off school, tired…so many excuses will creep in preventing you staying committed to your goal, BUT only if you let them. Write down a list of all the excuses you have ever used to not workout/eat well and write down next to them a solution. So for example lack of time – prep some ’emergency meals’ (chilli works great!) to keep in the freezer and packet rice for a quick filling yummy meal instead of grabbing a takeaway – win for you and your wallet! And for training – plan out your week, organise your time and work out what days can you work out – enter in that ‘you’ time we all have time it just about prioritising.
3. Accountability
I hold my clients accountable for their goals and ensure they stay on track but use a loved one/close friend, just someone who you can share your journey with and will be there to give you that little push and remind you why you are on this journey and give you praise and support along the way 🙂
Now is the perfect time to start thinking about your goals, what you really want to achieve and starting putting together your action plan and who says you have to wait till the new year to start – get ahead of the game and start now.
No one can do it for you, it has got to come from you – but commit to it and anything is possible.
Always here if you need any help or support!
Much love,
