Hey Guys – I hope you are all well and wishing you a very happy and healthy 2016!
My 2016 has not got off to the best starts currently being bed bound after too much festive food and drink combined with lack of sleep I think my poor body has had enough. Whilst I could lie here and feel sorry for myself its time to do something about it
Where several years ago I would most likely be drawn in by the latest fad diet/diet pills designed to ‘cleanse’ your body and ‘detox’ – I am now aware and experienced how these really are a load of rubbish. Instead this year I have come up with a healthy eating plan (much similar to my usual nutrition plan just a little stricter).
SCM 21 day Challenge!
- No refined sugar (cakes, biscuits, etc.)
- No pasta, bread or pastries
- Drink at least 2L water per day
- No alcohol or fizzy drinks
- Focus meals on whole nutritious foods (foods found naturally)
- Move everyday (no matter its an hour or 10mins do something to get active )
- Try new foods and experiment!
Most of these points will seem obvious but writing it down and having a set of guidelines gives me something to focus on and sharing it with you guys hopefully will help you too! My last point about experimenting and trying new foods is so important to me as I am not someone who can stick to plain chicken, sweet potato and veg everyday – I am always searching for new recipes and ideas to make food exciting while still being healthy. I want to promote healthy eating in a way that you can stick to and enjoy the food you eat.
Just because I am a Personal Trainer does not mean I don’t get the same cravings for the sugary processed foods that you do and that smell of the bakery doesn’t make my mouth water! But after a Christmas of a little too much of these things going 21 days without them is exactly what I need, allowing my body to recover from the food and alcohol abuse over the past couple of weeks.
