So you have probably tried everything to get rid of the last bit of belly fat/bloat, endless crunches eating endless salads and still no closer to those abs or flat stomach. Read below for my top tips to beat the bloat and reveal your hard-earned abs!
(PS doing endless crunches and salad diets are NOT advised)
1. Skip the salt
Salt causes us to store excess water and we should be consuming no more than 1.500mg/day. Try to cut down the amount you add to foods and always check the labels-you’ll be amazed how many foods you consume reguarly actually contain hidden salt.
2. Avoid diet/ ‘gym’ drinks
these contain a lot of artificial sweetners and sugar alcohols which cause bloating. These drinks will most likely read ‘sugar-free’ or ‘diet’ and will contain ingredients such as; sortibol, mannitol, xylitol and lacitol which we cannot digest and send our stomach enzymes into overdrive. In large volumes this can cause digestive disorders and cramping so try to stick to water and natural flavourings where possible. Try the range at Vivo Life for an extra buzz I highly recommend the ‘Vivid’ Grape & Elderflower Matcha.
3. Pick your greens
Yes vegetables are great for you and often a great source of dietary fibre to help digestive system function correctly, and high fibre is especially important when consuming high protein diets (which I hope you all are!). However, vegetables broccoli, brussels, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots and beans contain starches that unless consumed regularly can cause bloating. When eating regularly are body learns to break them down and so it is advisiable to have at least one portion of these daily.
4. Stay hydrated
Goes without saying and I’m sure you have heard it time and time again but water, water, water! Always carry a water bottle with you (BPA free of course) add fruit such as lemons or limes to make it more interesting or pick yourself up one of these fab bottles and you will be amazed how much you will get through in a day! 3-4L is advisable as mimimum for most.
I hope this helps you and as always any questions please just get in touch- I would love to hear from you!
